On Real Life, and How I Wish It Were Much More Interesting.

I saw 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' tonight.  It was pretty much amazing.  A smattering of comedy, a dab of romance, and plenty of comic book/video game action fight sequences.  For fans of the comic, it follows the books dialogue pretty well, but there are a few changes.  However, the film really doesn't suffer from the shortening process, because there are some parts of the books that would've translated HORRIBLY onto film.  Mostly, they would've just served to extend the film needlessly, and that would bog it down.  And honestly, most of the changes end in the same way the book resolves them, just with some new added tricks.

However, this is not the main point of this post.  It's mostly how I wish life was much more adventurous and exciting.  We live in an age where everything has been discovered.  No continents to explore, no empires to defeat, nothing.  Now, I don't condone war at all.  Ever.  Seriously, I hate it.  I just wish average life has a little more spice to it.  I want to be able to fight off 7 dudes for a hipster girl of my own.  Not really, actually, I'm not much of a fighter (unless you put a weapon in my hands).  If it sounds like I wish life was more like a video game, that's not at all what I want.  Video Games are for escaping.  I just want more spice in life.  And I realize I could go travel and explore the world, but I have nowhere near enough resources to do that sort of thing (as evidenced by this poor attempt at becoming internet famous).  I think I honestly just need a more active social life.  Except I really hate drama.  I could join a band, but I tried learning guitar before, and I found it...uninteresting.  Maybe I'm just a quitter.  But then again, I haven't given up on this blog (yet).

TL;DR I want a more adventurous life, GO SEE 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' IT IS AMAZING.

And we bring you your regularly scheduled programming.

Apologies for being away for so long.  I have been busy with work, and playing MINECRAFT.  What is Minecraft you say?  It's a game, of course.  It's a game where you dig through the earth looking for valuable minerals and fighting zombies.  Interesting?  You fucking bet it is.

I'll admit, it may not sound like much at first, but this game is amazing.  It just has this charm and charisma that lures you in and then, what do you know, you're back at its place with your clothes off.  I'm kidding.  Although if this game were a person, it would get all the ladies.  There will be a link at the end of this post to it.  If you want to buy it, DO SO FAST.  The price is about to jump soon.

What else have I been doing?  Not much else.  My brother is coming home for a bit soon, so I'll probably be busy with that.  I've also been playing some Half-Life 2 mods, and those are fun.  Otherwise, nothing much.  And I'm out.

Oh, that link.

Minecraft

Now I'm out.

Today I did nothing at all because I had the day off.

Well, the above statement is a lie, actually.  I did do things, like wake up really late (12:52 PM), and suddenly remember that, oh crap, I was supposed to be at my girlfriend house at 11 AM.  Needless to say, I got punched quite a bit.  I then helped her make gumbo THAT I DIDN'T GET TO ENJOY because I had a black belt meeting and I had to go to karate.  Oh, yeah, I take karate.  First Degree Black Belt.  Nothing fancy.  I then came home and remember that HOLY SHIT SON IT'S FREAKING RIB NIGHT.  So I had ribs for dinner.  And that's the only thing I had to eat today.  Oh, and some corn on the cob, which was damn good.  Then I did nothing on my computer, because that's how I roll.  And I need to stop writing and get some sleep because guess what I HAVE TO GET UP AT EIGHT AM TOMORROW.

Ok Ok, a real first post....just for you guys (who have yet to discover this)

So, I'm going to talk about things.  Work related things that anyone who isn't a lazy bastard or who has been born into wealth will understand, and things like music, video games, and movies.  Work and movies go together for me, however, because I work at a movie theater (this is a point I will reiterate countless times throughout my life.  I just like to mention it.)  Now, where to begin...

Working at a movie theater is...interesting.  Not the kind of interesting like discovering a new element, where you can actually make loads of money from that.  The kind of interesting that just makes you go "What the fuck am I doing here?".  It's mostly due to the people.  I'll go through and list them (note:  No last names).

Mr. Reynolds-  He's the boss.  He sits in his office all day with the thermostat set to 81 (It's freaking summer here, ok?), and occasionally gives out orders.  He's generally a pretty good boss, just don't make him angry.  He also drinks a lot of coffee, and knows damn near anything about a projector.

Bernie-  Mr. Reynolds Second in Command.  He's a huge perv, but he is also hysterical.  He's also a pretty good manager, just do not make him angry at all.  He will go off on you like nothing else.  It is not pretty.  He's the manager that all the dudes like, and most of the girls hate.

Kristina- Assistant Manager.  She's fairly nice, but also a bit...bitchy (sometimes).  She's a decent manager, and makes a good box office worker (she sells tickets), and can run the projectors if need be.  Overall, I like her, and most other people do.  Once again though, don't make her angry.

Justin- He's a douchebag.  Seriously.  He is a powertripping douchebag, and he is annoying.  I don't mind him (to his face) but I will do whatever I can to throw a wrench into his plans.

Bryan- Quite possibly my favorite male co-worker.  He is hilarious, and fun to be around.  Has a slight temper problem, but that's normal for us.  Works the projectors like a boss.

Hannah-  One of the newer people, she's Kristina's apprentice, basically.  They're attached at the hip, I swear.  However, she's almost like a sister to me, and I want to make sure she's looked out for.  A bit naive sometimes.

Bobby-  He's going to replace Kristina when she leaves for college.  He's pretty good, but he can be a bit annoying at times, and creepy at others.  Overall, I don't mind him, and he's decent to be around (better than Justin at least).  Also, he's short.

Candace-  One of the newer people, and one of my best friends from school.  She's a bit airy, but she generally gets the idea.  She also gives really good hugs.  I like working with her, and I try and stick up for her whenever possible.

Jennifer- Another favorite person of mine.  She is like Candace times 100, but she has been around longer.  She's a real cloud cuckoo-lander, but she's generally nice, and does what needs to be done.

Kyle-  Essentially, my apprentice.  He's the second newest guy we've hired, and he's not bad.  He's pretty funny, and down-to earth.  However, he is not afraid to be ridiculous.  Also has awesome belt buckles.

Kari-  She's really quiet.  That's really all I have.

Caitlyn - Not a bad worker.  She's the youngest, so we all call her 12 and stuff.  She's fairly nice.

Megan - Now, this is probably the longest one.  She used to be a really good girl, and then she started down the slippery slope of sex.  Started out with porn.  Nothing I'm really against.  Then she came in with crusty stuff all over her purse.  Currently, she's pregnant with twins.  She already has a kid.  She has really racist parents, which makes her preference towards African American males kinda interesting.  A lot of people used to like her, but now we find her overly annoying.  I can't help but agree.

Josh- He's the new guy.  He's eager, and a bit too polite.  I think he's personally making sure he doesn't get fired for no reason, which isn't a bad thing.  He's a bit of a character (I cannot believe I just used that).

And that's really all.  I know this is super long, and probably not the best read (come on, it's my second post.  Give it time guys), but this way you know who is who when I start talking about my work life.

I don't know how you found this...

Whether you followed a link, stumbled upon this, or what, but this is a blog about nothing in particular. I'll admit, this is mostly out of boredom. Actually, it's completely out of boredom. The sort of boredom you encounter at 3:28 A.M. and you can't sleep because you decided to play scary video games. That kind of boredom. The boredom that leaves people to drinking, or worse, watching something of Fox News. But this isn't a blog about politics, mostly because that's just troll bait. This is a blog where I'll occasionally post a story from my work life at a movie theater, or where I will post a review of a band's new album, just to see if you should check it out.

Yeah, this is already a bad idea.
